Chicago Style Papers

Students use different kinds of writing styles when writing academic papers. They use MLA, APA and Chicago writing style.  Most students are not conversant with the writing styles and they are not able to format academic papers according to the guidelines given.  Students are required to write Chicago style papers, but they are not familiar with the writing style and also the formatting of Chicago style papers. Chicago style papers are supposed to have different sections.  Chicago style papers should have an introduction, body and conclusion.   Students should ensure their assignments have the three sections. The introduction should provide a brief background about the topic being studied.  The introduction should be written well to enable the reader understand the paper. It should act as an attention getter. In addition, the introduction should include the sections that will be addressed in the body. Including the section makes it easy for the reader to know what to expect. It also gives the reader morale to read the paper. The introduction should also have a thesis statement that will be supported.

Chicago style papers should also have a body. The body of the Chicago style papers is made up of different sections.  The sections should be well written to ensure they meet the instructor’s instructions.  The section should be supported using relevant sources and content.  Also, the sections should be coherent. The sections should flow well to enable the reader to understand the content. Most students fail to write great Chicago style papers because they do not ensure the sections are coherent and also do not conduct thorough research.  Instructors grade the assignments according to how well the body is written. Students who write the body of the Chicago style papers well get good grades unlike students who do not.  Moreover, instructors grade the Chicago style papers according to coherency.  Students who write coherent papers get good grades unlike those who do not.

Further, the Chicago style papers should have a conclusion. The conclusion should be well developed. It should restate the thesis statement and then provide a summary of the important points in the assignment. The student can also provide recommendations where necessary.   Some instructors ask students to provide recommendations depending on the kind of assignments they are writing.  In addition to that, students should ensure the Chicago style papers are free from plagarism. The Chicago style papers should be checked for plagarism before being handed in. This ensures students get good grades.   Most students are not able to write non plagiarized assignments and this affects their grades. Students should paraphrase the content of the assignment to ensure they are not plagiarized.  They should also include references and in text citation.  All the sources used to write the assignment should be listed in the reference list. The sources should be written using Chicago style.   The in text citations should also be formatted using Chicago style.  Students should adhere to the guidelines provided by the instructor regarding the formatting of the paper, the content and reference. Failure to follow the guidelines will lead to poor grades as instructors consider different things when grading the assignments. They look at the reference list, in text citation, plagarism and whether the student has followed the guidelines.  Hence, students should follow the steps above when writing the assignments and ensure they have all the sections.
